Wolsey-Wessington School reaches out to the scrapbookers of the area with their annual “Scrap4Kids” scrapbook retreat coming up March 22-24.
All proceeds all go toward projects that help our students. Funded projects include the school’s new playground system and library books, and they are looking at making a scholarship for students as well.
This is the third year of Scrap4 Kids. Carol Rowen and Sharon Wuestewald came up with the idea and have chaired the event for the school, sharing their joy of scrapbooking with others.
“We started with only 10 the first year and went up to 15 last year and now we are expecting 25-30. We love seeing that gradual increase in participants. We hope that it continues to grow. Starting out in the summer for our first retreat was not the best idea, but since then we have moved it to the first weekend after the boys’ basketball state tournament. This weekend works out for most people. We have scrapbook vendors that are there to provide any needed scrapbook supplies. Special coffees and smoothies are also available. During the retreat food and snacks are provided for everyone. We provide large tables and computer chairs to add to the comfort level. We set up in our new gym with plenty of room to spread out your scrapbooks and supplies. We even offer overnight lodging for anyone wanting to spend the nights in the gym,” said Rowen.
Door prizes throughout the weekend are also a big plus for the event. This is a special time when scrapbookers can get together, share ideas, teach a technique to others, and just have a great time away from the everyday worries and stresses.
