Wessington Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) will host a community meeting Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Wessington Economic Development Corp. building.
Purpose of the meeting is to determine if individuals or families may be interested in pursuing the purchase of a “Governor’s House.” WEDC hopes to see a Governor’s House, or houses, set in the Wessington community or a nearby rural location.
Jim Becker, spokesperson and facilitator for the Governor’s House Program, will provide an informational power point presentation at the meeting. A question and answer segment will follow the presentation, and useful informational materials will be available.
Topics will include cost, size and layout of the home, financial assistance availability, qualifications and requirements for purchase, and benefits of a first-time home buyer.
The houses have been improved over the years. The houses are now larger, high quality materials are used and they are more energy-efficient. The houses are easy to maintain and would be an excellent retirement home, as well as a good starter home for a small family.
All interested persons are welcome. If you plan to attend and/or you have questions, it would be helpful to call Jim, 458-2453; Kaye, 458-2255; or Jerold, 458-2478.
