Last Friday night, the Rustlers fought a grueling battle against the 3-1 Herreid/Selby Area Wolverines. The Rustlers were optimistic as they went face to face with the Wolverines but were defeated 30-0.
Heavy rain and lightning caused the game to be called at the half. Officials decided the last two quarters will not be made up.
Despite some big plays opening the door for scoring opportunities, things deteriorated as Rustlers fumbled four times, each being recovered by the Wolverines.
Herreid/Selby’s standout Cooper Schaefbauer carried 14 times for an total of 98 yards. He also made two touchdowns. The Wolverines had one fumble.
Rustlers carried 12 times for a total of 64 yards.They ended the game with nine passes but only two successful attempts for a total of eight yards passing.
Brendan Letsche had five and half tackles and Luke Simons followed with three.
The Rustlers travel to Wolsey October 11 for the Warbirds’ homecoming.
