The Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds took a 93-34 win from the Wessington Springs Spartans in a 281 Conference match-up on Tuesday, February 5, at Wolsey. The Warbirds controlled the game from the get-go, leading 30-2 at the end of the first quarter, 55-12 at the half break and 80-17 at the end of the third round. The reserves took over the final stanza to finish the contest.

Ryne Johnson, coming off the bench led the Warbirds with 18 points, fifteen of them coming from beyond the three-point arc. Lorenzo Williams and Roy Lumpkin each had 14; Hayden Hooks got 11 and Alex Babcock put in 10. Randy Neuharth had eight counters; Chris Williams got six; Ryan Sprecher and Carter Langbehn each had four; and Andrew McKown and Cole McGehee both put up two. Sprecher pulled down a game high ten rebounds and Hooks had seven.

Hooks led the assist column with nine and Chris Williams had four. Lorenzo Williams was credited with five steals and Hooks and Lumpkin each had four. The JV team pulled out a 33-23 win. The game was close with several lead changes. The Warbird offense just couldn't get the ball to go in the first half. Carter Langbehn kicked in at the start of the third quarter and scored 9 of his game high 15 points to put the Warbirds up 24-21 going into the final round. They held the Spartans to just two points in the 4th quarter while scoring nine. Others scoring were Hunter Johnson and Cole McGehee both with 5; Tyler Horn, 4; John Hamilton, 3 and Andrew McKown with one. McGehee pulled down five boards and Langbehn had four. Langbehn was also credited with four steals.

The 7th & 8th grade team won their game 50-21. They came out on fire, scoring 18 points in the first quarter, while holding the Spartans to 4. They kept that pace up for the rest of the contest, with all thirteen members seeing floor time. Darian Ogunjemilusi and Dylan Hine were in double figures, scoring 16 and 14 points respectively. Tanner Zemlicka put in eight; Colton Borah got four and Austin Kemnitz, Tyler Babcock, Carter Mehling and Jacob Sievers, all with two. Hine had a big night on the boards as he pulled down a game high fourteen, and Ogunjemilusi had six. Kemnitz led the teams in assists with six and Hine had four steals in the win.

Warbirds take down Spartans
