In football action Friday night, October 18, 2013 the Warbirds took down Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots 30 to 6.
The first-quarter was pretty evenly matched with the Warbirds scoring eight points to Hitchcock-Tulare’s six. But the Warbirds dominated the second quarter with the scoring run of 22 to nothing. Defense was the name of the game in the last half holding both teams scoreless.
Lorenzo Williams led the Warbirds in rushing with 213 yards rushing for an average of 8.52 yards per carry. Ryne Johnson was a close second with the 142 yards and 8.88 yards per carry. Receiving was led by Hunter Johnson was 13 yards on one carry.
Defense seemed to hold the game Friday night. Tackles were led by Cole Megehee with three and 17 assisted tackles. Williams also grabbed 3 tackles and assisted in 13, with Zach Lindblad attaining 11assists and one tackle, while Jevin Scott racked up a tackle and ten assists.
Football action continues for the Warbirds at their next game on Thursday, October 24, 2013 against Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central. The game will take place at Woonsocket.
