Una Nicholas, 88, of Miller, S.D., died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society of Miller.
Private family services were held. Burial was at Sunbeam Cemetery, rural St. Lawrence.
Una Irene Haeffner was born July 3, 1925 to Jacob and Caroline (Guthmiller) Haeffner in Tripp, S.D. She lived with her family in Tripp until the age of seven, at which time she moved to Miller. She attended Odessa School, rural St. Lawrence, through the eighth grade.
On October 15, 1944, she married Roy Nicholas at Durham, North Carolina. To this union three children were born: Bill on September 18, 1957, Scott on October 20, 1959 and Jodi on September 27, 1966.
Una lived in Miller for most of her life, leaving for health reasons when she was in her early 80s, but returning to Miller in 2012 and remaining there until the time of her death. She was a member of the Assemblies of God Church and enjoyed sharing her love for Jesus with others through the teaching of Sunday school.
Una’s survivors include one son, Bill Nicholas, Sparks, Nevada; one daughter, Jodi (Don) Wipf, Missoula, Montana; one sister, Donna (Cliff) Peterson, Miller; two brothers: Gene (Mary) Haeffner, Miller and Dwaine (Eleanor) Haeffner, Columbus, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Clarence Wagner, Miller and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Una was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son; her parents; one brother, Ray Haeffner; and two sisters, Mable Wagner and Betty Lou Haeffner.
