Track season got underway Friday, March 29 at the Al Sahli indoor meet at NSU in Aberdeen.
There was a strong competitive field of athletes and teams from North and South Dakota, with up to 48 athletes competing in a single event.
Tom McGough, head track and field coach, commented, “As coaches, we were very proud of those who were able to compete at the Al Sahli meet. Many of our athletes were not available to take part due to their involvement in two other important programs: FFA and SADD.”
McGough stated, “For those who competed, they did very well. The meet gave us an opportunity to know where we are condition-wise. For our returning athletes, if gave them an idea where they are in comparison to last year and an idea of what needs to get done to make continued progress. For our freshmen making the transition to high school track, they realize they can compete at a higher level and have a positive impact.”
He continued, “We had excellent performances by our athletes, but what was most important, our athletes competed at a high level, demanding the very best from themselves. We need to keep that attitude, realizing what can be accomplished.”
