Sunday rollover accident leaves no serious injuries

On March 17, 2013 at about 3:25 p.m. Michael Terrell, his wife, Natasha and their three minor children (all from Gillette, Wyo.) were involved in a one-vehicle rollover accident on SD HWY 26 at mile marker 257 just east of 363rd Avenue, north of St. Lawrence.

Terrell was driving their 2005 Toyota Sequoia at the time of the accident. The vehicle damage is estimated at $16,875.

Terrell and his family members were transported by the Hand County Ambulance to Avera-Hand County Memorial Hospital, where they were treated and released.

Terrell was driving west on SD HWY 26 when he encountered an area of slush on the roadway. He attempted to slow down but the vehicle lost traction, spun to the right and entered the ditch sideways. The vehicle caught in the snow and began to roll while in a pirouette. The vehicle came to rest facing northeast on all four tires.

The Polo Fire Department, Miller Fire Department Jaws also responded to the accident with law enforcement.

The driver was warned for overdriving road conditions.

ALTHOUGH THE TOYOTA landed upright, it took quite a ride after encountering a slushy patch. The parents and three children luckily escaped serious injury.
