Student groups visit Samaritan residents Good Samaritan Society 11-14-12

New Beginnings Worship Center held the Sunday worship service November 4. Pastor Daryn Pedersen gave a message on “God’s Love,” using John 3:16 for scripture.

MHS human development class students came Monday morning. The girls polished nails and the boys took down Halloween decorations. We appreciate your help, students.

Good Samaritan Society, Miller

Small group participants had their fingernails painted, and looked at and talked about Disney World pictures.

Coffee time was also held Monday afternoon. Fresh-popped popcorn and cookies were served. Darlene Hammer dropped by and played several piano selections for us.

St. Lawrence Community Church was in charge of the Monday evening hymn sing. Anita Fremark led the singing and sang “One Day at a Time.” Sherry Van Zee was the piano accompanist.

Father Chester Murtha, St. Ann Catholic Church, celebrated Mass Tuesday morning.

Tuesday afternoon Bingo helpers included Janice Wilbur, Annette Snodgrass, Doris Schultz, LaVonne Puffer, Maylou Oakley, Violet Moncur, Dorothy Lichty, Dorothy Engelmann, Kim Edwards and Darlene Cox. We always appreciate the Bingo helpers. Not only do they help residents with their Bingo cards, but they also serve coffee and cookies after the activity.

Maylou Oakley led Rosary Wednesday morning.

Pastor Kent Atkinson, retired Baptist minister, gave a Bible study Wednesday afternoon on “A Thanksgiving List,” using Psalm 103 for scripture.

Card games were played Wednesday evening.

Residents made brownies during baking time Thursday morning.

Hand in Hand Daycare children made foam turkeys during intergenerational time Thursday afternoon. Brownies and ice cream were served after the activity.

Scrabble games were played Thursday evening.

The 2008 October/November “Reminisce” magazine was read for reading time Friday morning. Two of the stories read were “Follow Your Nose to the Past,” by Sandra Amberg, and “Dishes Meant Full Bellies” by Myrtle Bench.

Miller Elementary sixth graders came over Friday afternoon to play games with their adopted grandparents.

We appreciate whoever dropped off the box of corn for us. We use it to feed the squirrels and are happy to have it, as are the squirrels.
