Steve Richard Phillips, 86, of Pierre, S.D., died at his home Tuesday, March 19, 2013.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, March 23, Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Pierre. Inurnment will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo. at a later date. 

He was born on February 11, 1927 to Claude and Bertha (Marshall) Phillips in Hand County, S.D. He served in WWII as a Private First Class in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in January of 1947. 

He married Lorella Durfee of Miller, and they had three children, Beverly, Rick and Scott. They were married for 52 years until her death in 1999.

On January 8, 2000, Steve married Margaret Huck and made his home in Pierre until the time of his death. 

Steve worked many years in the auto body repair industry before retirement. Steve also had many hobbies, but the most memorable one was fishing on Lake Oahe. He also enjoyed bowling and spending time with friends and family. 

His memory will be cherished by his wife of 13 years, Margaret; three children, Beverly Phillips of Wheatridge, Colo., Rick (Vickie) Phillips of Elizabeth, Colo. and Scott (Diana) Phillips of Denver, Colo.; two step-children, Deb (Pat) Huck of Pierre and Brad (Bobbi) Huck of Pierre; brothers, Roger Phillips of Kingfisher, Okla., Donald(Karen) Phillips of Oregon City, Ore; and Jerry Phillips of Sherwood, Ore.; sisters, Erma (Victor) Woodruff of Wolsey, S.D., Mona Brock of Scappoose, Ore., Lora Stoudt of Vancouver, Ore. and Thyria Ellis of San Diego, Calif.; sister-in-law Grace Spoonemore of Aurora, Colo.; 
grandchildren Mark (Melinda) Phillips of Aurora, Colo., Kristal (James) Wyatt of Elizabeth, Colo., Chad Wilson of Elizabeth, Colo., Tim Phillips of Bennett, Colo,, Matthew (Shelley) Phillips of Strasburg, Colo., Brian (Stacey) Phillips of Littleton, Colo., Tanya Huck of Sioux Falls, Amanda (AJ) Stoeser of Fort Pierre, Josh Rasmussen of Fort Pierre, Jared (Allison) Rasmussen of Fort Pierre and Jamie (Markus) Rasmussen of Lakewood, Colo.; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorella, and nine siblings.
