Ellen attended many workshops and classes. The postmasters were honored to have PM General Patrick R. Donahoe come and speak to the group.  He thanked the postmasters for their hard work and dedication.

Ellen visited the aircraft carrier, USS Midway, which has been turned into a museum. More than 4,000 people visit this ship each day.

The city buses run on natural gas, and there are many electric cars.

The weather was in the 60s and 70s. The Post Office Department doesn’t pay for any of the postmasters’ expenses to attend these conventions!

Ellen and Deanna returned to Rapid City July 27.  Luane Johnson met them at the airport. She took them on a tour of downtown Rapid City. They viewed many of the President statues.  There were tourists from many different states taking pictures of the statues.

The temperatures had stayed in the high 70s and low 80s with little showers of rain. It has been a good year for crops.   Grain crops are close to harvesting and hay bales are plentiful.

Each morning God gives us a rose, and some of us will spend the day complaining about the thorns.
