Although the Christmas holidays are barely over, members of the junior class at Miller High School are thinking ahead to prom this spring.
Last year’s junior class hosted the first “Talent Show,” and this year’s class is planning the second annual Miller Talent Show, scheduled for Friday, Jan. 18, during the Farm & Home Show, as a way to help fund the prom.
Now what they are looking for are people who are willing to share their talents…singing, dancing, yodeling…you name it.
According to Desiree Yeigh, junior class advisor, the Miller community is a great supporter of any of the fundraising causes of the Miller Rustlers, from sports to fine arts.
“I haven’t been a part of the Miller community very long, but I know it is filled with lots of talent. I’m excited to help the juniors put this event on,” said Yeigh.
Plans are to again offer a family-friendly talent show, with acts of all types and participants of all ages. Individuals or groups are invited to register.
“Holding the talent show in conjunction with the Farm & Home Show is a great way to draw people who are already out and about,” Yeigh explained. The junior class will accept free-will donations from persons who attend the show. Proceeds go to the MHS junior class to help pay the prom expenses.
“We’re hoping to see the community support this fundraiser just as much as they did last year’s talent show,” said junior class vice president Jeremy Coss. “We’re proud to showcase the wonderful talent of the Miller students and members of the community.”
Registration forms and rules to participate can be found at on the Announcements Page, under 2nd Annual Talent Show Registration Form. More information is also available by contacting Yeigh at Miller High School, or . Registration forms are due to Yeigh by Friday, Jan. 11, so the lineup can be ready for dress rehearsal, which will be held Monday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. in the MHS Theatre.
The show itself will be presented at 7:30 p.m. in the MHS Theatre Friday, Jan. 18.
Many acts are needed to make the production a success, and in turn, a good attendance is also needed. The junior class members hope for both, in anticipation of next spring…and the prom.
