Sunshine Bible Academy, Miller, is sponsoring a concert with Keith and Kristyn Getty on Saturday, October 19 at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
Irish singer/songwriters and recording artists Keith and Kristyn Getty are among the preeminent modern hymn composers of this generation. Best known for “In Christ Alone” (penned by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend), the world-renowned hymn has been recorded by numerous artists over the past decade—including Owl City, Natalie Grant and Newsboys—and is a classic sung in churches around the globe.
Writers of an acclaimed repertoire of 21st century hymns revered both for their theologically astute lyrics and universally beloved melodies, the couple’s popular U.S. recordings include In Christ Alone, Awaken The Dawn and Joy – An Irish Christmas. They just released their first live album, Keith & Kristyn Getty: Live at The Gospel Coalition. Keith and Kristyn have shared their music at Franklin Graham crusades, the GMA Dove Awards, The Third Lausanne Conference on World Evangelization, as well as feature performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall and the legendary Grand Ole Opry, among many other noted platforms.
At the October 19 concert the Gettys and their band–an ensemble of some of the top names in Irish and American folk music—will be backed by a mass choir made up of students from Sunshine Bible Academy, Mitchell Christian School, Dakota Christian School, James Valley Christian School and Rapid City Christian School.
Keith Getty will present a workshop for pastors, worship leaders, choral directors, and anyone interested in learning more behind the Getty’s passion for hymnody and the story behind their songs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the day of the concert. The workshop is free, but attendance is limited so a ticket is required. Contact SBA for more information by calling 605-853- 3071 or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
