LM A Classy Design is a horse on the move
Trainer Sandra Hart of Centerville rode LM A Classy Design to a repeat victory at the 2012 WPRA Futurity World Championship. Hart won the 2011 Championship on her own Hart Ta Fame.
Miller native Branden Sievers and his wife, Delaina, own LM A Classy Design. They operate Hot Diamond Performance Horses at Rutland. Sievers’ focus of disciplines is team roping and barrel racing.
Hart described the five-year-old mare by Designer Red out of Bluess Doc Annie by Joannas Prince as “a diamond in the rough.”
Hart said, “She wasn’t a very big mare; I could almost put my arm all the way around her. I started hauling her last year to get her seasoned. She either can’t see out of her right eye of has limited vision. Some kids went by me on bicycles and scared her. She fell in the middle of the parking lot, skinned herself up and broke my ribs.
“Because of that eye, the first barrel was a little hard for her at first, but once she figured it out, it was fine.”
“Classy” has since blossomed into a polished bay with prowess in the barrel pen.
“She’s quick-footed and her turns are what’s really neat. They’re always so tight. She has a real soft face; I think you could run her in a halter. I ran her the whole year in a smooth O-ring,” Hart explained.
Among Classy’s futurity highlights were wins at the Big J Futurity in Waterloo, Iowa, the LD Ranch Futurity in Sebeka, Minn., and the JJ Classic and Sundby Enterprises Futuristics. She placed at the Canadian Barrel Futurity’s Melville Futurity in Saskatchewan, the Tri State Futurity in Winona, Minn., and the Hawki Futurity in Lincoln, Neb.
Classy will see some time off from competition to carry a Dash Ta Fame foal, and may enter derby contention as a seven-year-old.
