Ruth Dixson Gosnell Kuper 1926-2013
Ruth Dixson Gosnell Kuper, 87, of Charlottesville, Va., died on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013 at Rosewood Village.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 14, at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church with Father Dan Bain officiating. A private interment was held at Culpeper National Cemetery.
She was born on April 4, 1926 in Danville, Va. to James Frank and Maude Esther Dixson Gosnell.
She met Bernard “Bud” Kuper, who had been born and raised in Miller, S.D., in Danville, Va. on September 19, 1945. They married 32 hours later on September 20, 1945. They were married 66 years!
Ruth loved to cook and sew. She was a school bus driver and retired from the Va. school systems after 15 years. She was an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed and always loved.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Daryoush) Motameni of Stanardsville, Va., Kathy (Paul) Poland of Stanardsville, Steve (Susan) Kuper of Laurel, Md., Cynthia (Paul) Varrieur of Marietta, Ga., Alisa (Dale) Lam Stanardsville, Maurice (Penny) Kuper of Stanardsville, Brian Kuper and partner, Tracy of Phillipsburg, N.J., Eric Kuper of Earlysville, Va., and Scott Kuper and Jenny Varner of Stanardsville; 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Frank and Harold.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; one sister, Virginia; one brother, Floyd; and one grandson, Timothy Kuper.
