The Miller Rustler football team played host to the Stanley County Buffaloes Friday, Aug. 30, taking the 35-0 victory.
Lee Sivertsen started the scoring, putting the Rustlers ahead 6-0 with an 85-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, strong defense pinned the Buffaloes deep in their own territory in a punting situation when the snap flew over the punter’s head and through the back of the end zone for a Rustler safety, making the score 8-0. Sivertsen then scored on a one-yard touchdown run to make the score 14-0 in favor of the Rustlers. The Rustlers extended their lead to 22-0 with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Sivertsen to receiver Wyatt Strasburg.
The Rustlers extended their lead to 28-0 with a 12-yard touchdown run. Sivertsen then connected with Austin Shaff for a 40-yard touchdown pass to make the final score 35-0.
Leading the way for the Rustlers offensively was Lee Sivertsen who was 6-11 passing for 107 yards and two touchdowns. The leading receiver for the Rustlers were Wyatt Strasburg with three catches for 50 yards and a touchdown reception, and Austin Shaff with one catch for 40 yards and a touchdown.
Sivertsen also led the team in rushing with 10 rushes for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Defensive leaders for the Rustlers were Kris Wharton and Sivertsen, with six tackles a piece.
The Rustlers compiled 273 rushing yards on 26 attempts and 107 passing yards, with Sivertsen completing six of 11 attempts and Strasburg going 0-1
