The Miller Rustler volleyball team had their season ended by the Mobridge-Pollock Tigers 3-1 by scores of 18-25, 21-25, 25-17, 19-25 in the region championship last Thursday night in Gettysburg. The Rustlers could never get any momentum in the match as the Tigers took control early. The first two games were all Tigers; however, the Rustlers showed that they were not going to give up until the end, winning the third set. It was too little too late as the Tigers finished out the match winning game four.
The Rustlers were led from the service line by Jaden Kellogg, who was 23-24. Jansen Hunter was 14-16 from the service line with two aces. Jamie Mentzer added 11-12 serving. Kristen Peterka was 10-11 from the line. Denae Schlechter was 9-10 with two aces. Emma Steers was 5-8 with an ace. Christina Koeck was 3-3.
Peterka led the Rustler attack with 13 kills hitting 37-41. Mentzer was 33-40 at the net with 10 kills. Hunter was 28-33 with seven kills. Steers was 22-24 with three kills. Schlechter was 12-12 with two kills with Kellogg adding 8-9 with one kill.
Schlechter led the way setting 124-124 with all 31 of the Rustler assists. Mentzer set 13-13. Kellogg set 12-12. Steers set 4-4. Peterka set 3-3. Hunter set 2-2 while Keock set 1-1.
Mentzer led the Rustlers’ passing, going 20-23 for the match. Steers was 13-16 passing for the Rustlers. Peterka passed 11-11 in the match. Hunter was 8-13 passing. Kellogg was 5-7 passing; Cassandra Coss was 2-3 passing; with Koeck and Kirstyn Fiala passing 1-4 and 0-1 respectively for the Rustlers.
Mentzer led the way defensively with 21 digs with 2 1/2 blocks. Steers added 18 digs. Peterka added 14 digs with a block assist. Schlechter added 14 digs on the match. Kellogg added nine digs and a block. Hunter added six digs with Coss and Koeck adding a dig on the match.
