The Miller Rustlers junior high girls’ basketball teams were in action on Monday, Nov. 19 against the Stanley County Buffaloes in Fort Pierre. The seventh grade team defeated the Buffaloes by a score of 28-17. Teanna Pawlowski led the Rustlers’ scoring with nine points. Karly Beckett added eight points and six rebounds. Bobbi Alverson also had six rebounds to lead the Rustlers, while adding seven points. Annie Keeter added four points and four rebounds, with Cassie Schaefers adding three rebounds.
In the eighth grade contest, the Rustlers came away with a last-second win 29-27 on a basket by Kallie Ruhnke after a steal by Brooke Lettau. Ruhnke led the Rustlers with 19 points and four rebounds. Shaly Werdel and Jennifer Kenaston added four points, while Chasity Selting added two points.
Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 20, the Rustlers hosted the Ipswich Tigers in a seventh and eighth grade doubleheader. The Rustlers settled for the split with the seventh graders taking the 25-19 win, while the eighth graders suffered the 55-32 loss in the nightcap.
In the seventh grade game the Rustlers were led by Bobbi Alverson with nine points and 13 rebounds. Teanna Pawlowski followed with eight points. Karly Beckett added six points with Annie Keeter adding two points and five rebounds. Kassie Schaefers added three rebounds.
In the eighth-grade game, the Rustlers were led by Kalli Ruhnke with 24 points and five rebounds. Shaly Werdel added six points and three rebounds. Chloe Minor added two points for the Rustlers.
