Rustlers down Chieftains
The Lady Rustler volleyball team sailed through the first round of district action in Miller on Tuesday, Oct. 30, defeating the Crow Creek Chieftains three games to zero by scores of 25-23, 25-13, and 25-11.
Leading the Rustlers from the service line was Denae Schlechter who was 21-21 with 18 points, including eight aces. Jamie Mentzer was 8-8 for six points and two aces. Jansen Hunter was 8-9 for eight points and three aces. Kristen Peterka was 7-9 for five points and two aces.
Emma Steers led the Rustlers’ balanced hitting attack at the net with seven kills. Jansen Hunter added six kills with Kristen Peterka and Jamie Mentzer notching five and four kills respectively.
Schlechter had all 23 assists for the Rustlers in the match. Leading the way defensively at the net was Mentzer and Peterka with two blocks each. Steers and Hunter each added a block for the Rustlers. Steers led the way with eight digs. Jaden Kellogg added seven, with Peterka and Mentzer adding five digs a piece for the Rustlers.
