HADYN HERMAN shoots over two Redfield Pheasant defenders in boys’ basketball action last Tuesday night. Herman scored eight points in the Rustlers’ 50-40 victory over the pheasants.
The Miller Rustlers split a girls’ and boys’ double header with the Redfield-Doland Pheasants in Redfield on January 8. The Lady Rustlers fell to the Pheasants by a score of 58-33. The Rustlers led at halftime by a score of 14-12 but the Pheasants made halftime adjustments to score 19 points in the third quarter to lead at the end of the third quarter 31-20. The Pheasants kept up their offensive dominance in the fourth quarter, scoring 27 points to the Rustlers’ 13 points to win 58-33.
The Rustlers were led by Jamie Mentzer, who netted 14 points, three steals, two rebounds and two assists. Jansen Hunter added 10 points, seven rebounds, two steals, a block and an assist. Kristen Peterka added four points, six rebounds two assists one block and one steal. DJ Alverson added two points with Annie Fulton adding two points and four rebounds. Jaden Kellogg added two rebounds.
The junior varsity game was also won by the Pheasants by a score of 52-13.
The Rustler boys fared better, defeating the Pheasants by a score of 50-40. The Rustlers were led offensively by Drew Beilke with 14 points, one rebound and one assist. Preston Blackwell added 12 points and three rebounds. Beau Keeter added 10 points, three steals, two assists and one rebound. Haydn Herman added eight points, three rebounds, two steals and a block. Lee Sivertsen netted four points, three assists and one steal. Kris Wharton added two points and one rebound.
The Rustlers also won the junior varsity contest by a score of 32-16.
