The Miller Rustler cross country team participated in the Highmore Invitational Saturday, Sept. 29.
The varsity boys’ team captured second place as a team. Mason Breitling led the Rustlers with a time of 18:37.64 to place sixth. Cole Sargent placed ninth with a time of 18:51.45. Trey Waldrop finished the course in a time of 20:57.52 to finish 28th. Beau Keeter ran the course in 21:04.38 to finish 30th and Jacob Heezen finished 34th in a time of 21:36.56.
Brianne Bertsch was the lone girl to run for the Rustlers, and finished 22nd in a time of 18:05.30.
Six runners ran in the junior varsity boys’ division for the Rustlers, and finished first as a team. Devyn Gortmaker paced the Rustlers with a time of 15:26.11 to finish second. Hunter Russell finished in 16:07.58 to place fifth, and Lucas Simpson came in seventh in a time of 16:35.97. Jason Manning placed 11th with a time of 17:21.79. Connor Bertsch placed 12th with a time of 17:41.74, and Clayton Keck finished 14th with a time of 18:10.95.
Cody Bevers and Camden Breitling competed in the junior high boys’ division for the Rustlers. Bevers finished in 8:57.38 to place 15th and Breitling finished in 9:09.55 to place in the 18th spot.
