The theme of the week at the Rustler Roost was All About Animals. The kids did a variety of crafts, activities, and read books about animals. The kids made spiral snakes, paper bag animals, birds using milk jug lids and turtles using paper plates and tissue paper. We have quite the creative crew!
During the week the kids wrote in their journals about their favorite animals. We then used those journal entries to write acrostic poems about the animal. After the poems were finished everyone took a turn reading their poem to the group and the group had to guess what animal they had written about. They are really getting the hang of writing acrostic poems!
Other activities this week included making spray sidewalk chalk, baking muffins, playing at the park, going to the library, and our first trip to the pool. On Friday the kids planted their plot in the Community Garden. With all of the practice from planting pumpkins and now a variety of vegetables, they are practically gardening experts!
