Rustler football season ends at hands of the Titans

The Miller Rustlers’ football team had their season ended in the first round of the playoffs in Frederick on Tuesday night, Oct. 23 by the Leola-Frederick Titans 53-6.

The Rustlers struggled to gain momentum offensively, and were led by Lee Sivertsen with 32 yards on 14 rush attempts. Austin Schaff added 23 yards on four rushing attempts. Sivertsen was 5-10 passing for 98 yards and an interception. Wyatt Strasburg led the receiving corps with 66 yards on two catches. Kris Wharton added 35 yards on three catches.

Defensively for the Rustlers, Blaze McMurtry led the way with nine tackles. Wyatt Strasburg and Lee Sivertsen each added five tackles.

Leading the way for the Titans was Brian Sumption with 244 yards and six touchdowns on 19 rushing attempts. George Lapka added 48 yards on five attempts. Dane Campbell had two completions on four passing attempts for 14 yards. Evan Emery completed the only pass he attempted, for 11 yards and a touchdown. Justin Helland had one reception for 11 yards and a touchdown.
