It was a cool and windy night at the Miller Speedway. There were 39 cars in the pits. The candy scramble was sponsored by The Virginian and Gary Peterman Racing.
During intermission, Kip Myers brought out his WISSOTA Modified for some hot laps. Entering turn one, the center of his right rear wheel failed and he did four barrel rolls, but he was uninjured and went on the race in the Mid Mod feature.
The features started off with the Clark Pump N Pak UCARs. Jordan Kienow ran off to an early lead, but a last yellow brought the field to his bumper. In turn four on the last lap Kienow and Curt Manning banged doors in the corner, but they kept going with Kienow beating Manning by half a car length. Gary Peterman, Mike Hammill and Tre Blasdell rounded out the top five. It was Kienow’s fourth feature win at the Miller Speedway.
The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds rolled out 14 cars for the main event. Britt Williams led the first six laps, but then a yellow closed things up, with Lorin Johnson grabbing the lead on the restart. But as the field reached turns three and four, Williams spun out in the middle of the corner, setting off a chain reaction crash that took out seven cars. Johnson led after the clean up, and was running away when his car quit on him with a lap and a half to go. Adam Brotherton drove by for the win followed by Blayne Baloun, Brian Bachmann, Jim Danburg and Austin Roth. It was Brotherton’s second feature win at the track.
The WISSOTA Street Stocks had a better time of it, with Kenny Clements leading the first lap, but then Grady Myers took over and ran off to his first feature win in the Street Stock class. Tyler Lamb, Clements, Michael Hammill and Jeff Rawstern rounded out the top five.
The WISSOTA Super Stocks capped off the night. Cole Searing led the first two laps, then his engine died for a few seconds and the whole field went by. Dustin Arthur took over the top spot until Lorin Johnson managed to get by on lap 6. Arthur hounded Johnson the rest of the way, but came up short at the end. They were followed by David Carlson, Mike Jager and Searing. It was Johnson’s 31st Super Stock feature win at Miller.
Next week the WISSOTA Modifieds will be making their first appearance at Miller Speedway since 1988. Only three weeks remain in the 2012 season. Race time is 7:30.
