Outlaws came out firing, but couldn’t hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 3-2 ballgame against the Irene Cardinals on Saturday at Bird Cage, Sioux Falls SD.
While Outlaws led until the seventh inning, the Irene Cardinals worked their way back and took the lead.
Matt Engelmann got on base three times in the game for Outlaws. He singled in the second and fourth innings.
Ben Sees got the win for the Irene Cardinals. He allowed two runs over nine innings. Ben Sees struck out four, walked three and gave up six hits.
In the bottom of the first, the Irene Cardinals grabbed the early lead, 1-0. The Irene Cardinals attack began with a single from Ben Krush. A stolen base then moved Ben Krush from first to second. Wes Robertson singled, scoring Ben Krush.
The Irene Cardinals stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the seventh, scoring two runs on an RBI single by Adam Gale.
