Outlaws advance to 3B title game

Miller used a 5-1 victory against Chamberlain on Sunday, July 28 in Plankinton to earn a spot in the District 3B Amateur Baseball Tournament and one of the district’s two berths into the state tournament.

Brant Winter drove in a pair of runs for Miller, while Juan Sabalier, Scott Hamiel, Dustin Harvey, Jay Winter and Cody Cotton each had a hit.

Plankinton earned the other spot in the title game with a 7-5 victory in 11 innings against Wessington Springs on Sunday.

Orric Earl drove in a pair of runs with a double to give Plankinton the lead in the top of the 11th inning.

Logan Kopfmann led Wessington Springs with four hits, while Armando Rodriguez, Nathan Hainy, Anthony Wahl and Jay Fischer all had two hits.

The district’s title game was played Thursday in Plankinton.

The Class B Tournament begins Aug. 7 in Sioux Falls. Miller plays Irene Saturday, Aug. 10 at 11 a.m. in Sioux Falls.
