“Dig Into Reading” has been the theme of our summer reading program, and kids of all ages have been reading and winning prizes. The reading program will end on July 27, and all reading sheets will need to be turned in by that time. Our final story time will be on July 24 at 4 p.m., with guest reader Steve Schumacher. All reading program participants are invited to a pool party on Saturday, July 27 from 5-6 p.m. Thanks to all who participated and made the program a success!
Author and photographer Sue Langerock Schuldt will be presenting a special butterfly program for all ages on Wednesday, July 31 at 2 p.m. “Creating Butterfly Habitat” is the theme of her presentation, and she will be discussing her new book, The Secret World of a Monarch’s Metamorphosis. This is the story of Sue’s unique relationship with a very special butterfly named Bessie. Through photographs and personal experience, Sue offers answers to a complex question: what REALLY happens in the cloaked world of complete metamorphosis?
Our One Book South Dakota book discussion will be held on Wednesday, July 24 at 2 p.m. “Long-Shining Waters” by Danielle Sosin will be discussed with scholar Lana Dannenbring-Eichstadt facilitating. The author will then be our guest on August 14 at 2 p.m. Both events are sponsored by the South Dakota Humanities Council, and everyone is welcome to attend.
