“Communities Matter@Your Library” is the theme for National Library Week April 14-20. To celebrate communities, we have some activities and displays planned for the week. A special showing of crafts and handiwork from the Millerdale Colony will be on display all week. On Wednesday we will have an open house with refreshments served all day, and from 4 to 5 p.m., library staff will be available to demonstrate online services offered by the SD State Library.
On Friday at 1 p.m., we are excited to have Master Gardeners Gloria Keck and Donna Noyes present tips, tricks, and tidbits on gardening topics A-Z, including container gardening—along with a hands-on “seed bomb” project, a unique make-and-take opportunity.
Library visitors throughout the week may register for door prizes to be given away at the end of the celebration. If you are not a registered library user, now is the time to sign up for a library card and be entered in a special drawing. It’s all happening here at the library—our community matters, and YOU are cordially invited!
The library will host the final Reading is Fundamental book distribution for elementary school children. This will be held April 25-26. In conjunction with the distribution will be the annual RIF poster contest. The posters will be on display through the following week. RIF is a books for ownership program that is sponsored locally by Quoin Financial Bank and American Bank and Trust.
