St. Placidus Duncan Church will hold its Sunday Easter morning Mass at 11 a.m. There will be no Mass held on Saturday, March 30.
The Annual Gann Valley Firemen’s meeting was held at the Fire Hall Wednesday evening. A presentation was made by Jeff Fuegen and Monsanto, gifting $2500 to the Gann Valley Fire Department and also $2500 to the Gann Valley Community Center. Lunch was served before the presentation and meeting. Several area residents were in attendance.
George Sinkie was a supper guest at the Juanita Sinkie home and also visited with Ralph and Connie Timmerman Sunday evening.
Monday night, Gene and Carol Grabin attended Eastern Star in Wessington Springs.
David and Judy Gaulke traveled to Minneapolis, Minn. on Monday, and returned home Wednesday. They were overnight guests in the Rae and Hank Finn home.
Linda Ness visited in the Jeannie and Pat Cummings home at Pukwana Sunday.
Carol Grabin and Sonia Schelske visited in the Twila Zastrow home at Wessington Springs on Wednesday.
Friday evening John and Pam Niles, Mitchell, were supper guests in the David and Judy Gaulke home.
Linda Ness visited with Deloris Fuegen on Saturday at the Allen Fuegen home.
Evelyn Wulff accompanied Ken and Elaine Wulff and Kevin Wulff for a weekend visit at the Robert and Berdie Wulff home in Dayton, Wyoming.
Legion Auxiliary members Ellen Speck, Jerri Lutter, Linda Ness, Judy Gaulke and Elaine Wulff held their monthly Auxiliary meeting Thursday evening at the Weskota Apartments in Wessington Springs, where President Juanita Sinkie and Connie Timmerman reside. They visited Juanita’s apartment and also visited with Doris Roduner and Zola Ashley.
Gene and Carol Grabin attended Benjamin Jung’s third birthday party in Sioux Falls on Sunday.
Linda Ness attended the prayer service for Mary Lenz at Kimball Monday evening.
Saturday morning Ron and Julie Lowery, of Minnesota, visited at the David and Judy Gaulke home.
Wednesday afternoon Linda Ness visited with Ruth Geppert and Doris Erwin at the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home.
The Abernathy Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary met Thursday evening, March 14, at the Weskota Apartments in Wessington Springs. President Juanita Sinkie called the meeting to order with six members attending. The Flag Pledge and Auxiliary Preamble were recited. Treasurer Ellen Speck gave the financial report and membership report with one short to meet goal. Bills were approved for payment. It was moved and seconded to give a $10 donation to the Gann Valley Easter Egg Hunt.
A thank-you card and a get well card were written and signed. Elaine Wulff gave a report on the District 6 President’s meeting held in Kimball March 2.
The members nominated Janet Wulff as “Legionette of the Year” for her contributions to our Auxiliary Unit.
Ellen Speck served as hostess. The April meeting will include plans for Memorial Day.
The weekend brought a bit of sleet and snow that melted soon. Strong winds brought in some cold air again.
People who accomplish things that count are usually too busy to count their accomplishments.
