MJH Rustlers bring home first basketball wins of season

The Miller Rustlers junior high girls’ basketball teams lost a pair of games to Pierre Indian Learning Center on Monday afternoon in Pierre, with the seventh grade falling by a score of 18-15.

The Rustlers were led in the seventh grade game by Karly Beckett and Bobbi Alverson with four points and six rebounds each. Annie Keeter added four points and four rebounds with Teanna Pawlowski adding three points for the Rustlers.

In the eighth grade game the Rustlers were led by Kalli Ruhnke with 12 points. Shaly Werdel and Allison Grogan added two points each for the Rustlers. Brooke Lettau and Jennifer Kenaston led the Rustlers with three rebounds each.

The Rustlers fared better Tuesday night, sweeping the Redfield-Doland Pheasants at home with the seventh grade team taking the victory by a score of 30-14 and the eighth graders winning by a score of 25-12.

In the seventh-grade contest, the Rustlers were led by Teanna Pawlowski with 14 points and two rebounds. Karly Beckett added six points, and Kassie Schaefers added four points and two rebounds for the Rustlers. Bobbi Alverson added two points and led the Rustlers with six rebounds. Mackayln Fulton and Annie Keeter each added two points for the Rustlers.

In the eighth grade game the Rustlers were led in scoring by Kalli Ruhnke, who scored 11 points and added two rebounds. Shaly Werdel added six points, while leading the Rustlers with five rebounds. Maycee Mohr added four points. Brooke Lettau added two points and three rebounds for the Rustlers, with Allison Grogan adding two points.
