The Midcontinent Foundation has released the list of charities to benefit from Fall 2013 Grants. Sixty-one charities from throughout Midcontinent Communication’s footprint in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota will benefit from a distribution of over $91,215.00.

The City of Miller benefited from two awards this distribution period. The Miller Swim Club received $1,000.00, and the Wheels and Meals Corporation also was awarded $1,000.00.

“Midcontinent is honored to assist the organizations that work to improve the quality of life in this region,” says Tom Simmons, Senior Vice President of Public Policy for Midcontinent Communications. “Over the years the Midcontinent Foundation has contributed more than three million dollars to support the work of non-profit organizations within our service area; we are thrilled this fall’s distribution of grant funds will help more non-profits than ever before.”

The Midcontinent Foundation is the charitable arm of the Midcontinent family of companies. The Foundation was established in 1987 to provide funding assistance to charitable entities (as defined by the Internal Revenue Service) that assist in socially desirable goals within the communities which Midcontinent Media, Inc. and its subsidiaries are a part.

Organizations that serve communities within the Midcontinent service area are encouraged to apply for future grants for special projects, facilities improvements, equipment, and programs (not operational costs).

The Foundation Board will meet again in February of 2014 to review the next round of applications. Charitable organizations with special or capital projects are encouraged to apply for a Foundation grant before January 10, 2014. More information can be found at www.midcocomm.com.
