Leonard Pevestorf, son of William and Dora (Bassler) Pevestorf, was born February 29, 1920, on the family farm near Coon Rapids, Iowa. As a small child he moved with his family to Princeton, Minn., where he attended country school through the eighth grade.
Following his formal education he continued to live and work on the family farm, and he also helped out area farmers plus he moved to Iowa to help his family pick corn.
Leonard married Joyce Johnson in Cambridge, Minn. September 1, 1945. They lived and farmed in the Cambridge area until 1948 when they moved to a farm near Alpena, S.D. They then moved to a farm north of Huron, where they farmed until 1962. They then purchased a farm one mile further east, near the Jim River, and lived there until moving into Huron in 2007.
Leonard was a member of American Lutheran Church; NFO; and Moose Lodge. Leonard’s pride and joy was his family, especially the time that he could spend with the grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes and trapping. Even though his livelihood was the farm it was also his hobby…his heart was always at the farm.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Huron; one daughter, Barb (Tony) Kludt of Miller, S.D.; two grandsons, Kory (Jenilee) Kludt of Sioux Falls, and Kip (Kimberly) Kludt of Brookings; four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Betty Pevestorf of Omaha, Neb. and Carol Pevestorf of Huron; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Howard, Ronald, Floyd, Harold and Earl; one sister-in-law, Annie Pevestorf; and one nephew, Duane Pevestorf.
