Lady Rustlers ‘Dig Pink’

The Miller Lady Rustlers Volleyball team took the win Tuesday night against the Chamberlain Cubs, 19-25, 25-17, 18-25, 25-21, 15-10.

Team scoring was 94/101 for 93% with nine aces. Perfect at the line were Christina Koeck 23/23 with three aces, Kristen Peterka 9/9 with four aces, and Macee Fanning 9/9.

Attacking for the Rustlers was Peterka 62/66 with 16 kills and three blocks and Jamie Mentzer 51/55 with 19 kills and two blocks. Fanning also contributed 4 kills to the teams 45 total.

Assisting for the Rustlers was led by Denae Schlecter with 42 of the team total 45. Team passing was at 72% with 107 digs. Leading the passing was Koeck was 14/22 with 23 digs, Peterka 21/25 and 20 digs, Fanning was 13/16 and Mentzer followed with 8/14 and 25 digs.

The JV Volleyball team had a good night October 1, 2013, taking two from Chamberlain Cub’s 25-19, 29-31, 7-15. Total points were 33 with 15 aces. Scoring was led by Shay Werdel, seven points and 5 aces, Tia Pawlowski was second with seven points and three aces and Rilea Mielke with five points.

Defensively the girls were on fire also, earning 60 team digs. Claudia Rombough led with 22 digs. The girls were cold at the net not making one block.

The girls were working well as a team with 18 assists. Leading the setters was Kayla Boomsma with 10 assists and three kills, Shaly Werdel had five assists and one kill. Rilea Mielke had seven kills and Shae Knox with five kills.

The “C” team fought a good fight winning the first match 25-23 but loosing the next two 14-25 and 10-15. Team points were 27 with 14 aces. Shaley Werdel had seven points and 4 aces, Jennifer Kenaston had twelve points and three aces.

Total digs for the Rustlers was 30. Leading the defensive efforts were Kenaston with 10 digs and Allison Grogan with eight digs.

Offensively, the charge was led by Werdel with seven assists of nine total for the team. Kills were led by Paige Kilker with four and Brooke Lettau and Kenaston tied with three.
