Kenneth Fastnacht 1950-2013
Kenneth “Ken” W. Fastnacht, 63, of Phillips, Neb., died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Tiffany Square in Grand Island.
Memorial services were held Saturday, August 10 at Full Circle Venue in Grand Island. According to his wishes Ken was cremated. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is serving the family.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Kenneth Fastnacht was born on June 27, 1950 at Miller, S.D. to Edward and Catherine (Aldrich) Fastnacht. He grew up and received his education in Miller. Following high school he moved to Grand Island, where he attended business school. After business school he began working for Berkeley Pump, where he continued to work until his death.
Ken was united in marriage to Mickey Fitzsimmons on March 2, 1974 at Grand Island. The couple made their home in Phillips. Along with his career at Berkeley Pump, Ken was also a partner in KB Pump Repair and started Rooster’s BBQ with his son and daughter-in-law.
Ken loved gardening and selling his produce at the Farmers’ Market. He was also an avid duck and deer hunter. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife of 39 years, Mickey, of Phillips; a son and daughter-in-law, Brant and Dorinda Fastnacht of Phillips; a daughter, Kelly Fastnacht of Lincoln, Neb.; two grandchildren, William and Alyssa Fastnacht of Phillips; his mother, Catherine of Miller, S.D.; and a sister Barbara Demos of Ocala, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward.
