Junior high girls’ basketball sees action during week

The Miller Rustlers junior high girls basketball teams were in action on Monday, Nov. 26 in Redfield against the Redfield-Doland Pheasants and Thursday, Nov. 29 at home against the Highmore-Harrold Pirates.

Monday, the Rustlers’ seventh grade team defeated the Pheasants by a score of 25-4. Leading the way for the Rustlers was Teanna Pawlowski, Bobbi Alverson and Annie Keeter, each with six points. Karly Beckett added five points with Kassie Schaefers adding two points for the Rustlers. The leading rebounder for the Rustlers was Bobbi Alverson with eight rebounds. Annie Keeter added three rebounds. Leading the Pheasants was Brenna Taylor with all four of the Pheasants’ points.

In the eighth grade contest, the Rustlers defeated the Pheasants 31-10 with Kallie Ruhnke leading the way with 20 points. Allison Grogan added four points while Brooke Lettau, Chasity Selting and Paige Kilker added two points, with Shaly Werdel adding a point for the Rustlers. The Pheasants were led by Tana Muellenberg with six points.

On Thursday, the seventh graders fell behind early in the first half to the Pirates and tried to claw their way back too late, as they fell by a score of 32-25. Leading the way for the Rustlers was Annie Keeter with 12 points with Karly Beckett adding five points. Bobbi Alverson and Teanna Pawlowski each added three points for the Rustlers.

In the eighth grade contest, the Rustlers were victorious by a score of 39-36. Kallie Ruhnke led the way for the Rustlers with 20 points. Chasity Selting added eight points. Shaly Werdel added seven points, with Allison Grogan and Taylor Schlechter adding two points. The next action for the Rustlers will be against Sully Buttes on December 11.
