Harold Larsen 1919-2012
Harold Larsen, age 93, of Huron, S.D., formerly of Wolsey, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron.
His funeral service was held Friday, Aug. 24, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wolsey with burial in the church cemetery. Visit www.welterfuneralhome.com.
Harold Carl Larsen, son of Carl and Louise (Kohlmeyer) Larsen, was born on the family farm on January 18, 1919, at Wolsey. He was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Wolsey. He graduated from Wolsey High School in 1937. Following graduation he farmed with his family northwest of Wolsey.
On September 30, 1951, Harold married Mildred Jungemann at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wolsey. They lived and worked together for 49 years on the family farm near Wolsey.
He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Harold enjoyed family, grandchildren, farming and all things mechanical.
He is survived by two sons, Bill (Carol) Larsen of Wolsey, and Vernon Larsen of Wolsey; two daughters, Barbara (Neil) Otto of Riverton, Wyo., and Marjorie (Ed) Krzesinski of Edwardsville, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Chris Otto, Jon (Jamie) Otto, Bridget Otto, Bethany Krzesinski, Michaela Krzesinski, Megan Larsen, Matthew Larsen and Madelyn Larsen; and one brother Fred (Shirley) Larsen of Marion, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred on September 19, 2001; and three brothers Edward, Marvin, and LaVern.
