This past weekend I had the great pleasure of attending the South Dakota Newspaper Association annual convention in Rapid City. This convention was an historical joint convention with the North Dakota Newspaper Association. It was a great opportunity for all of us to make so many new friends and learn the problems of South Dakota extend across the border.
North Dakota expressed many problems due to the oil fields, some of the same problems we experience in South Dakota, just on steroids.
At this year’s convention I was elected Third Vice President of the South Dakota Newspaper Association Board of Directors. This is a great honor for me. I hope to use this office to learn how the newspaper can better serve the community and readers, Not only those living in the area but our residents who have another address, (once a member of this community, always a member). South Dakota gets in your blood and changes you.
I look forward to implementing the techniques and policies that we discussed at our newspaper convention.
I’d like to thank our hosts, Charlie and Norma Najacht of the Custer County Chronicle. It was an excellent and informative convention. They did an excellent job of showing off South Dakota’s greatest wonders—Mt. Rushmore and the Black Hills. Thanks again.
Great Newspaper Association meeting
