Football Update Warbirds take on Wildcats

The Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds hosted the Northwestern Wildcats last Friday October 4, 2013. The Warbirds defeated the Wildcats 42-6. The quarter break down was 8, 14, 14, 6. The Warbirds are undefeated at this time with a 4-0 conference record, while the Wildcats are 1-3 for their conference record.

The Warbirds held a strong defense against the Wildcats. Cole McGehee led the defense with seven tackles and six assists with one sack, which pushed back the Wildcats four yards. Sharing second in tackles was Lorenzo Williams, Alex Babcock, Hunter Johnson, Dylan Hines, and Zack Lindblad with three a piece. Johnson, Hein, and Linblad also had four assists each while Williams and Babcock achieved three each. Babcock, a Wolsey-Wessington senior, also tallied up two sacks with a push back of 15 yrds. Hines, a Warbird freshman, also grabbed a sack with a 12 yard loss and Lindblad, who is also a Wolsey-Wessington senior, achieved a sack with a five yard loss for the wildcats. The Warbirds totaled 28 tackles, 40 assists, and six sacks resulting in a 42 yard loss for the Wildcats.

Offensively, Williams, a Junior at Wolsey-Wessington, attained 177 rushing yards, and attempted five passed and one complete with a gain of three yards. Close behind Williams in rushing was Ryne Johnson, senior, with 172 rushing yards.

Next Friday Wolsey-Wessington will be celebrating their Homecoming and will host Miller. The game is scheduled to start at 7 pm.
