The weather this past week was hot with several of the days being into the upper 80s and into the 90s. We had 94 one day, which is one of the warmest days that we have had in May and for the first part of the month. Areas around us set records for the heat for this time of year. We received some rain during the week. The farmers have been busy getting the rest of their crops in and have been doing a good job of it. Of course, the wind has blown many times this week and strong part of the time.
Delton and Carole Beck were Sunday dinner and supper guests at the Jared and Laura Beck home in Huron for Mother’s Day and to help Noah and Lydia celebrate their birthdays. Noah turned eight on Monday and Lydia turned two on May 16. Others present for the celebrations were Virgil and Vina Dodson, Spearfish; Mary Dodson, Sioux Falls; and Allen and Holly Schaefers, Clear Lake.
Congratulations to the seniors who graduated from high school this week. The graduates from here are Johannes Gimbel, Leanne Koeck, Austin Schaff, and Lee Sivertsen. May you walk into the success that you are aiming for in your future.
After a talk about angels, my four-year-old daughter, Chloe, had a lot of questions. “But, Mommy,” she asked, “Why don’t angels like crackers?” Puzzled, I asked why she was wondering that. “You said angels are always with me,” Chloe replied, “but when I tried to give mine some Goldfish, they just fell on the floor!”
