Ella Mae Martinmaas 1930-2013
Ella Mae Martinmaas, age 82, of Wolsey, S.D., died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her funeral service was held Saturday, March 2 at the First Baptist Church at Wolsey, with the Rev. Chip Holmes, officiating. Burial was at the Wolsey Cemetery. Ella Mae Bailey was born on July 22, 1930, at Thomas, Oklahoma, to John Floyd and LaVerda Bailey. She graduated from Corbet, Oregon High School in 1948. She then took course work in accounting at Salem, Ore. plus other course work in accounting. Ella Mae worked a various business offices in accounting over the years. She married Elton Chamberlain Spencer in 1948. Elton died in 1966 and was buried at Gresham, Ore. In 1967, she married Gerhard Martinmaas. They divorced in 1985.
Some of the things Ella Mae enjoyed were sewing, walking, baking, gardening, reading, playing board games and spending time with her grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her four children, Elton Lester Spencer of Wolsey, Cindy Rae (“Rick” Richard) O’Steen of Lakeland, Fla., Trina Rae (Scott) Adermann of Madison, S.D., and Gary (Jennifer) Martinmaas of Aberdeen; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Floyd (Jean) Bailey of Mentmore, N.M.; and three nieces, Deb, Donette and Dawn Marie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elton Spencer; one daughter, Dianna Lynn Spencer; one son, Jay Dean Spencer; and one sister, Dixie Dean Inman.
