The Huron Elks Lodge Hoop Shoot contest will be held at the Huron Middle School Gym, Sunday, Dec. 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. Registration will start at 1:30 p.m.
The Elks National “Hoop Shoot” contest is open to all boys and girls ages 8-13. The Elks Hoop Shoot contest is a free throw shooting competition. This contest is open to youth in Huron and the surrounding area within the jurisdiction of the Huron Elks Lodge #444. There are six competing age groups: boys and girls 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13 year olds. Contestant age groups are determined by their ages as of April 1, 2013.
The qualifying winners from this contest will be eligible to compete at the State Elks “Hoop Shoot” Contest, which will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, in Pierre.

One boy and one girl in each of the categories (8-9, 10-11, 12-13) wins a National Title at the finals in Springfield, Mass.
The top six National Finalists’ names are inscribed in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
The program builds Character while promoting integrity, hard work, quality family time and good sportsmanship.
The program is free to participants. The Elks help sponsor winning contestants and their families at every level of competition.
