Jordan DeBoer, senior at Miller High School, was recently awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
In June 2011, Jordan, along with 130+ other students from across the state of South Dakota, gathered at HOBY South Dakota and received a challenge to be leaders: within their schools, communities, state and nation. They were asked to perform 100 hours of community service in a variety of forms before the following June. The students were asked to log their “Leadership for Service,” or “L4S,” hours online. During his 12-month period, Jordan completed 100 hours of volunteer service.
Recently, in conjunction with the 100-hour L4S challenge, Jordan was awarded a Bronze Level of Service Award, sent from the President himself. The Bronze Level of Service Award is given to those students completing between 100 and 174 hours of service over the period of 12 months.
HOBY South Dakota is proud to recognize Jordan DeBoer as part of their family and extends its congratulations to such an outstanding student.
Jordan is the son of Doug and Linda DeBoer, Miller.
