DCP/ACRE SIGNUP FCA Update 4-17-13

Posted April 16, 2013 at 4:59 pm

The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 is the authority for the DCP and ACRE signup This act extended the provisions of the previous Farm Bill for crop year 2013. The regulations of DCP/ACRE are basically the same. However, the extension is only for crop year 2013.

All producers may choose to enroll in either DCP or ACRE for the 2013 crop year. The ACRE election made in previous years does not carry forward into this crop year. The signup period for ACRE election ends on June 3, 2013. DCP signup period continues through August 2, 2013.

Signup for the DCP/ACRE program is continuing. Please call the office for your appointment to enroll your farms for the 2013 crop year. In preparing for the signup, producers must make sure that all changes have been reported to the FSA office, so that records can be updated prior to enrolling in the DCP/ACRE programs.

Reporting Land Changes – Producers should report to FSA whenever any changes are made to your farming structure. This includes additional land being purchased or leased for 2013. Farm records will need to be updated in the office prior to any signup being conducted for the 2013 programs. Also, if changes are being made to the status of payment entity, i.e. changing from an individual to a corporation, a trust or an LLC, this information should be reported.

All FSA offices are prevented from making any farm records changes at this time. We are in the process of being converted to a new farm records software program. All employees must be trained on the new system prior to being “turned loose” to continue updates. This will be happening in the next two weeks, so there may be days when we are working with a short staff.

However, we still encourage producers to report changes to us as soon as possible. When the software opens up, we will endeavor to complete the changes in our records as soon as possible. This process is also affecting the way we change and update maps. Some of the GIS mapping changes are still pending. As soon as the maps are ready, our office will notify producers through our newsletter articles.

Thanks to all producers for being patient as we complete this transition.
