Crusaders season ends at hands of the Sioux

The Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders boys’ basketball season had their season ended at the hands of the Lower Brule Sioux by the score of 62-55 in the district semi-final.

The Crusaders opened the game outscoring the Sioux by a score of 15-12 in the first quarter. The Sioux fought back to take the lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Crusaders by a score of 20-9 to lead 32-24 at halftime. The Crusaders had an offensive outburst of their own in the third period, outscoring the Sioux by a score of 21-10 to take the 45-42 lead into the final period. In the fourth quarter the Sioux again outscored the Crusaders by a score of 20-10, bringing the final score to 62-55.

Senior Brady Brockel led the Crusaders. He scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds in his final game in a Crusaders uniform. Fellow seniors Chibueze Egeruoh and Daniel Pederson scored four points each in the contest. Drew McClain contributed with 13 points and a team high four assists. Brian LaDue finished with a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing a team high 14 rebounds.

The Fighting Sioux were led by two players scoring 20 or more points, with Thomas Eagle Thunder scoring a game high 22 points and Latrell LaRoche scoring 20 points and seven rebounds each. Braden LaRoche added nine points.
