Crusaders defeat Sioux

The Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders football team hosted the Lower Brule Sioux Friday, Aug. 30, taking the 42-0 victory.

The Crusaders started the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run by Tayte Clark with 5:34 left in the first quarter to make the score 6-0.

The Crusaders added to their lead with 11:55 left in the first half on an eight-yard touchdown run by Connor Beeman. The two-point conversion was added by Tayte Clark to make the score 14-0. Just over two minutes later Beeman added a three-yard touchdown run with Clark adding the two-point conversion, making the score 22-0.

With 5:54 left in the second quarter Nolan Hamilton added an eight-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 28-0, with the two-point conversion making the score 30-0 on a run by Brady Brockel. With 3:01 left in the first half, the Crusaders extended their lead to 36-0 on a 21-yard run by Sam Clark.

In the second half, the Crusaders finished the scoring with a 26 yard touchdown run by Dalton Gerbracht to make the final score 42-0.

Offensive leaders for the Crusaders were Connor Beeman (seven rushes for 57 yards and two touchdowns), Tayte Clark (seven rushes for 36 yards and one TD), Sam Clark (five rushes for 31 yards and one TD) and Dalton Gerbracht (two rushes for 27 yards and one TD). The Crusaders were unable to complete a pass on the afternoon.

Trig Clark led the Crusaders on defense with 14 tackles and a fumble recovery. Dalton Gerbracht had eight tackles and an interception. Drew McClain and Sam Clark each had an interception.

The Crusaders had 180 total yards, all of which are rushing yards. The Sioux had 52 yards of total offense (56 passing yards and -4 rushing yards).
