In football action Friday night, September 13, the Sunshine Crusaders walloped the Lower Brule Sioux, 57 to 14.
The Crusaders came out with a bang, taking the lead 33 to six by the end of the first quarter. The Sioux came on strong in the second quarter scoring the only 8 points in the quarter.
The Crusaders dominated the rest of the game, scoring 12 points in both the third and fourth quarters. Crusaders led with 311 yards offensively to Lower Brule’s 114.
The ground game dominated the night. Connor Beeman led with six carries for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns, Seth Buer led the scoring with seven carries for 55 yards and four touchdowns. Cole Buer aided the scoring with six carries, 55 yards and one touchdown.
The aerial game was virtually nonexistent with Sam Clark only passing for 4 yards and Joey Lane for 7 yards.
The Crusaders Trig Clark had 17 tackles while Denver Paul and Dalton Gerbracht had 10 each. Capitalized on turnovers with C. Buer one fumble recovery and one interception. S. Clark had two interceptions and Joseph Lopez had a fumble recovery to round out the game.
