In 1920 he began practice at Humboldt, S.D. He went into partnership with Dr. D. A. Gregory in Miller, S.D., in 1926. When Dr. Gregory left, Dr. M.W. Pangburn became partner, and they continued to operate the hospital until Hand County Memorial Hospital was completed in 1948.
Dr. Hagin served on the State Board of Charities and Corrections. He was also Mayor of Miller for two terms. He retired in 1970, receiving the 50-year pin in medicine. Dr. Hagin died in 1974.
