Bob Dean Ruth, 81, of Mitchell, S.D., died April 13, 2013.
His funeral service was held Wednesday, April 17 at First Reformed Church, Mitchell. Interment was in Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery, Mitchell.
He was born June 23, 1931, at Portsmouth, Ohio, to Vernon and Ruth (Carter) Ruth. He graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1949. He attended Cedarville University, in Cedarville, Ohio, for one year, and then served in the US Navy from 1951 until 1955. He served as a hospital corpsman, stationed in Bainbridge, Md., Portsmouth, Va., Coronado, Calif., Japan and Alaska. His last two years of service were with the Amphibious Construction Battalion One in California and Japan.

Carolyn Jacobsen, 75, Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Miller, S.D., died April 20, 2013, in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Miller West, 6200 W. 41st Street, Sioux Falls.
Carolyn Ada Phinney was born April 7, 1938, at Ree Heights, S.D., to Lloyd and Ila Phinney. She was raised in the area and attended Ree Heights public schools.

Margaret Knippling, 91, of Gann Valley, S.D., died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital, Miller, after a brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, April 17 at St. Placidus Catholic Church at Duncan, rural Gann Valley, with Father Jim Friedrich, celebrant. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

E. Maurine Jones, 95, of Boise, Idaho, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
Maurine’s life was celebrated Monday, April 15, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Boise. Private interment was at Dry Creek Cemetery of Boise.

Jim Coats, age 65, of Doland, S.D., died Saturday, April 6, 2013 in the Avera McKennan Hospital at Sioux Falls after a long illness.

The Reverend Tyra Talley, Ed.D, died at the age of 90 on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Grand Village, Grand Rapids, Minn. Dr. Talley had been a resident in the rehab and memory care units at Grand Village since March 2012.
