Carolyn “Carrie” Kimberly Kolm was born June 20, 1976, to Michael “Mick” and Dawn Kolm at Schuyler, Neb. After her father’s death in1980, her family moved to near Redding, Calif. She graduated from an eighth grade rural school in a class of six students; she then graduated from Red Bluff High School in 1994. Afterwards, she moved to Sacramento and worked in Alzheimer care.
She came to Corsica, S.D. to help her mother, where she met Joseph Sievers, the love of her life, at an auction. After a brief courtship they decided to spend the rest of their life together. Carrie worked at Good Samaritan Living Center in Miller and on construction projects with Joe.
Carrie was always interested in nature, watching her birds, loving kill deer in particular, and stopping for turtles on the road. Her mother and step-father, Dawn and Bill Holtz, worked for Game, Fish and Parks of California, where she grew up outdoors gaining a love of the natural world. One day she surprised Joe with a 75-pound snapping turtle in the trunk of her car. Joe was not impressed. She loved dancing, and always watched Sponge Bob Square Pants when she needed to relax. She loved cartoons that made her laugh and movies that would scare the pants off her. Joe loved to jump around the corner and scare her.
They were totally surprised by the blessing of Kimberly Grace Sievers on November 16, 2010. Kimberly changed their life forever with her beauty and bubbly personality.
Carrie was preceded in death by her father in 1980, and sister, Tracey, in 2003.
She is survived by her mother, Dawn (Bill) Holtz of Oleta, Okla., and Joseph and Kimberly Sievers of Wessington, S.D.
Rembold Funeral Home of St. Lawrence was entrusted with Carrie’s arrangements.
