Boys’ Cross Country team places fifth at State meet
Miller Rustler cross country teams participated at the state cross country meet in Rapid City October 26. The boys’ varsity team placed fifth overall. Seventeen teams and 128 runners participated in the State A meet.
Coach Tom McGough was exhilarated about the outcome. “What a season! All who have been close to this team know how hard they have worked and their dedication to improve. On a daily basis, they challenged each other in a positive way, striving to get better. Each of our runners continually expanded their comfort zone.”
Prior to the winning the Region Meet, the varsity compiled six first-place and four second-place meet record.
McGough stated, “Their accomplishment and effort put forth is commendable. There was great improvement throughout the season by all our runners, both varsity and junior varsity. Placing fifth in the State Meet exemplifies everyone’s dedication.
“The field of runners competing this past weekend in Rapid City was very strong. Having both Cole and Mason medal, by placing in the top 25 is a tribute to them and their teammates. Being one of the Top 5 Class A cross country teams in the state is a great tribute to the effort put forth and shows the character and commitment of all our team members.
